Cois Sionna Desmond Credit Union is a not for profit, community-based credit union, proudly supporting its 59,000 members across its 15-branch network, located throughout Limerick City and County and the North Kerry region.

The Role

Cois Sionna Desmond Credit Union is seeking applications for the role of Credit Control Officer on a permanent, full-time basis. The role location is open to the successful candidate; within the Credit Union’s branch network. Flexibility to work and travel throughout the branch network is required.

Reporting to the Credit Control Lead, the Credit Control Officer will work as part of the Credit Control Team, supporting the effective delivery of day-to-day credit control operations and member arrears management activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing the Credit Union’s Credit Control Policy and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements while supporting members experiencing repayment difficulties. The position involves proactively monitoring and managing arrears cases, maintaining regular member engagement, supporting recovery actions and assisting in minimising financial risk to the Credit Union. This role requires a professional and confidential approach, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively while following direction from the Credit Control Lead.

Requirements

  • Ideally at least 1 years’ experience in credit control, arrears management, or accounts receivable.
  • Experience within a credit union or regulated financial services environment would be an advantage.
  • QFA qualification or working towards the same.
  • Experience working with MARP and arrears resolution processes is desirable.
  • Confident making outbound calls and conducting challenging conversations with professionalism and empathy.
  • Strong administration, organisational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Numerical and analytical ability for reconciliations and payment plans.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and work independently within established procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and sound judgement.
  • Member-focused, with commitment to delivering excellent service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Collaborative and approachable, with strong teamwork skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle, for inter-branch travel.
