The Role
Cois Sionna Desmond Credit Union has an exciting new opportunity for an IT Support Technician to join
their growing team. The role will be based in Askeaton, Co. Limerick, with a requirement to travel throughout
the branch network.

Job Purpose
Reporting to the IT Officer, the IT Support Technician will be primarily responsible for developing and
supporting the IT infrastructure, with the key objective of supporting the IT network, employees’ PCs and
related software and the telephone network to deliver best in class systems. The role will provide first-line
technical support to our employees, maintaining the IT infrastructure and enhancing IT security measures.
The IT Support Technician will work on a variety of I.T. projects as required, liaising with different
departments across the credit union, and providing support across our branch network.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond to queries from employees via the IT Support Portal, and ensure timely resolution of issues, desk-side and remote.
- Maintain hardware, software, and network systems across multiple locations, including cleaning, updating and investigation of system and application events that affect performance and connectivity.
- Implement and monitor IT security protocols to protect sensitive data and systems, inclusive of managing firewall configurations.
- Assist in the deployment and upgrading of IT systems and applications.
- Assist employees with new systems and create user-friendly guides.
- Support the IT Officer in implementing projects to modernise our systems, software and hardware.
- Maintain the IT asset and software registers and assist with documentation in relation to the same.
- Troubleshoot issues with PCs, laptops, networks, phones, and financial software, documenting changes to PC hardware and software and results of troubleshooting.
- Communicate proactively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure efficient operation of IT resources.
- Assist with, and at times lead out on delivering specific IT projects within agreed timelines and perform other ad hoc duties as needed.
- Keep up to date with technical and industry developments, researching and evaluating emerging technologies, hardware, and software.
Role Requirements
- Third level qualification in a relevant IT discipline (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, HND in Computing).
- Minimum of 1–2 years’ hands-on IT Support Technician / IT Admin experience in a relevant industry and/or credit union support experience would be desirable.
- Strong understanding of IT systems, networking, and security principles.
- Working knowledge of Windows 10, Windows 11, Windows Server 2019, Active Directory, and Microsoft Office 365 Administration would be an advantage, with a solid knowledge of program processes, methodologies and tools, as well as financial processes.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to discuss technical matters with a non-technical audience and manage relationships with key project stakeholders.
- Excellent support and task prioritisation skills, passionate about solving problems swiftly for the end user.
- Self-motivated and results-oriented, with a strong willingness to learn and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Full clean driving licence and access to your own transport, for travel throughout the branch network.
- Empathy with the ethos and values of the credit union.
