As part of Cyber Security Awareness Month, we want to remind all our members to stay alert and vigilant against cyber threats. Cybersecurity and data protection remain top priorities, not just for our Credit Union but for all organisations, as threats to personal information are constant in today’s digital world.

Recent Incidents
Cyberattacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated, affecting many businesses and organisations globally. You may have heard about recent incidents such as the cyberattack on Cabot Financial a debt collection firm or the Ticketmaster data breach. Both incidents may have compromised sensitive personal information.

While we continue to monitor the situation closely and have no confirmed breaches of our members’ data at this time, it’s important for everyone to stay on guard and practice good cybersecurity habits.

What You Can Do to Protect Yourself
While we are doing everything possible to protect your data, we encourage you to take the following steps to safeguard your personal information:

  1. Be cautious with unexpected emails, calls, or texts – Avoid clicking on links or providing personal details in response to unsolicited communications. If you receive a call you weren’t expecting, hang up and call your local branch directly using the contact numbers on our Fraud Awareness page.
  2. Be wary of phishing scams – Fraudsters may have some accurate personal information, which can make their requests seem legitimate. Always double-check before sharing any details. Remember: we will never ask you for your PIN, password, or login details.
  3. Report suspicious activity – If you receive any communication about your credit union account that feels unusual or suspicious, contact us immediately. You can find contact details on our Fraud Awareness page.
