Cois Sionna Desmond Credit Union is delighted to invite applications for the role of Credit Controller, on a permanent, full-time basis. The location of the role is dependent on the candidate and may be at one of the credit union’s main offices in either Askeaton, Glin, Newcastle West or Rathkeale.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Finance & Operations Manager, the Credit Controller will be primarily responsible for the progressive implementation of Cois Sionna Desmond CU’s Credit Control Policy and procedures, providing an efficient service to members within authorised limits, as granted, while minimising the number of accounts in arrears. The role requires the Credit Controller to have a professional manner and work effectively to ensure that members in arrears are supported and financial losses to the credit union are minimised.

The Credit Controller will implement effective credit control decisions and plans under the guidance and direction of their manager. The role will assist in ensuring that credit control risks in the lending portfolio are identified and assessed; then managed and mitigated to an acceptable tolerance level as set out by the Board of Directors.

Skills and Competency Requirements

  • A minimum of two years’ senior credit control experience.
  • Qualified/part-qualified in a relevant financial qualification desirable, along with QFA.
  • Ideally holds a Mortgage Arrears Resolution Process (MARP) qualification or is on the pathway to same.
  • Detail orientated and organised, with strong numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Possess excellent administration and report writing skills.
  • Motivated to work in a fast-paced environment, with accuracy and personal accountability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence others.
  • Focused on continuous improvement, eager to learn new skills, show initiative and excel in the role, bringing improvements to the department.
  • Approachable and friendly, with good teamwork and collaboration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook applications
  • Alignment with the values and ethos of the credit union.
